Meal Plan: October 27 – November 1, 2014

This past weekend my sister came down from Maine to hang out in a milder, Southern version of October that we have here in Charleston. Eventually we started talking about food and our childhood likes and dislikes. I evoked a shocked expression from her when I confessed that I’ve never really enjoyed chicken pot pie. Gasp!

Maybe it’s the chicken-based gravy? I love beef+red wine gravy, and Thanksgiving turkey gravy, so why not chicken gravy? I couldn’t articulate it. It’s just never really been my cup of tea. This week I’m attempting to give this dish some effort and attention.

Other than that, we’ve got a white pizza on Monday/Tuesday (to Rebecca’s chagrin). Some people, apparently, won’t accept pizza without red sauce? Who knew? Compromises were made, and we’ll have some marinara on the side. For all you youngsters, that’s what relationships are all about.

Finally, a simple Thai green curry with some Louisiana long green eggplants from the garden. Maybe some more green things? Peas? Spinach?
