Here are the answers to all your burning questions.

1. Who is your “lovely?”

Cooking For My Lovely refers to my wife, Rebecca. Preparing and sharing food is undoubtedly my love language, and it never feels like a chore when I’m cooking for people I love. 

2. What is your favorite thing to cook?

This is a pretty tough one. I think my favorite things to cook tend to be country/peasant/comfort food. Rich stews, large roasts, anything braised in wine, one-pot wonders, all make me immeasurably happy. 

3. Why don’t you post more recipes?

I am an elementary schoolteacher by day, with a second job on the side. Writing up one recipe a week, complete with photos, is about the best I can do at the moment. If I didn’t enjoy things like reading, exercise, playing with my dog, or spending time with my wife, I would be much more prolific on the blog.

4. Why do the older posts have such crummy photos?

Good question! When this blog was launched, photography was not a priority. I didn’t expect anyone to read the blog who wasn’t already a member of my family, so using a crummy point and shoot or my (old) iPhone was fine by me. To be honest, it was a fun tool for me to plan out a week’s worth of dinners economically and, since my mom always asks my what I’ve been cooking when we speak on the phone, she could be in the loop as well. 

Eventually, other people started reading and I decided to step up the photography a bit. I am passionate about taking photos but had no experience with food photography. In a saturated Internet-landscape where every third website seems to be a gorgeous food blog, my aim is to be true to myself and the original focus of the site: cooking tasty, healthy, and exciting food on a limited budget (now with pretty images too!).
